Captured this scene sometime around the end of last month. The empty rides and dramatic sky reminded me that another season has ended. As one grows older you stop and reminisce of years gone by and you realize time grows shorter as each season ends.

Awesome low-light work and thought-provoking reflections.
What a great sky, foreground works well too
long time no see and still the same pleasure in browsing through your fatntastic pics!!
Excellent HDR work that only emphasizes the barren composition. Well done!
What a piece of art, great John!
Wonderful details and colors! Yes, another season ended. Another winter to get through.
awesome and terrific atmosphere, really nice treatement of contrast
A fine composition. I like the curve that leads us back to the heart of the picture. Wonderful capture of color and detail. I appreciate your high quality of workmanship
Perfect colors and light. Lovely romantic sunset
Another beautiful shot John, such a serene feeling to the image and I love how it is filled with contrasts. I really love how you have the warm colours from the right fading towards the left and becoming cool blues. The natural lines of the beach curving round with the man made pier being dead straight. So much to capture our attention, I stared at it for a while and enjoyed everything new I found.
Gorgeous dramatic shot John–great mood
My first thought when I stopped by this morning and saw your photo is that the scene is very sad. Barren. And then I read your comment about seasons ending. The days have been dark and gloomy, wet and cold here, too. I really don’t like winter and here we are just starting. We both need to find something bright and uplifting to bring on a better mood.
Hugs,
Wendy
Terrific atmosphere, VERY VERY GOOD,HDR
Awesome composition. And a bittersweet and nostalgic image to end the season.
Fantastic PoV and post processing.
And I can relate to the words you’ve posted as they fit these image.
This is a powerful photograph, John. I like the distance the wide angle gives to the carnival rides. It adds to the sense of time passing. I understand what you meant about time growing shorter now as we grow older. We shouldn’t waste a minute.
Thanks for posting this wonderful photograph, John.

Beautiful as always, fantastic sense of time and climate.
the clouds look like as if it’s gonna swallow everything! brilliant!
Very nice! Thank god, the season is off, the nature can relay for a while:-)
Gorgeous sunset shot. Assuming this is somewhere on the east coast yet it reminds me of Santa Monica Pier.
Magnifique cette photo
Spectacular contrast of colors in a composition really fantastic! Great processing.
The sky in the glow of a fire will play with the big wheel before going to die at the end of the year! It is sublime! An image charge of poetry and beauty! I love your work, always different!
so pretty, john. somehow it doesn’t feel sad to see the end of the season. with the ferris wheel there in the silhouette it’s as if there’s the promise of spring.
What a clarity! Beautiful colors and a well balanced exposure!
One of those moments that looks to have been made with your processing style in mind ! Glorious light.
Magic atmosphere in your pic John I like the tones on it
Stunning color, composition and mood John! Great work!
Great atmosphere, love the colours and this sky!
since I am a Mets fan I have one simple motto : Wait until next season!!!
Very much a stunning photo.
So wonderfully and gloriously true, John!
the light seeping under the clouds enhances the consistency of the sky. i love it so much, bravo!
Those clouds! Amazing! Such great atmosphere! This is a classic picture!
Have been peeking at your blog for several months and this one really struck me for how dark and desolate a beach town can be in the winter months. I visited Atlantic city several times, but it was always in summer – the latest was once in September during a Miss America contest. That was a crazy weekend but I never saw the beach as stark as this photo. Not even a sea gull!
i just love the transition of colors in the sky.. great capture!
Great sky and pier.
Exquisite.
Stunningly beautiful image John…the sky is so beautifully colored…great post!
Really stunning sky here, beautiful colors.
Vraiment magnifique!
Incredible!
Fabulously framed… “Two Thumbs Up” plus great descriptive heading to accompany!
