Captured these Canadian geese taking off this past New Years weekend. I actually spent several hours walking and taking pictures of them. Got some really nice shots, the only thing the background is mostly sky or water. One thing I'm not use to is shooting fast, so it was a good experience. I'm use to setting up my tripod and bracketing off a bunch of shots. I actually got to use my image stabilization on my lens. Of course that's not 100%, especially when you get excited when these geese take off and you attempt to get off some fast shots. It was a lot of fun though.

I would have called these Mallards but that shows you I know as much about birds as I do about photography...wonderful grouping of these guys though. Perfect shot composition. Fully agree...VR/IS can be very useful...especially in low light with fast moving targets (or if you get caught without a tripod) -- I reckon I should say "subjects" instead of "targets". :) Hess @ 2009-01-08 15:28:28

So glad you left a comment on my blog... I had lost your site address again when I recovered my computer... had remembered to save my email contacts but not my favourites... LOL! No matter, I have it again now. Must say your Ricket Glen images are breathtaking... beyond breathtaking. And the Mystic Mushrooms delicious and a little tongue in cheek... Brilliant all!!

The angle of view is very nice! Almost looks like we are at the same level as the geese. I like how they are flying into the image. The simple background of grass and sky works really well. Nice job!
