Haven't posted one of these pier shots in awhile. Spent my days after Christmas where I like to be taking pictures, down and under. The tide was low and the waves not very exciting. However, it amazes me even when you go to the same place to take pictures, you can get very different results. Anyway, it was a break from the holiday rush.
Note - Stephen Phillips gave me an idea so I changed the title of this image and so did Dustin and I darkened the image slightly. Thanks everyone.

The water looks like an ice sheet. The piers look like some kind of contaminated industrial intrusion. One of my favorites of yours. Could be a little darker, maybe. 613photo @ 2008-12-30 19:35:54

There is a wonderful, almost nightmarish tone to the composition. Trapped by the water, channelled by the pillars, but hope at the end with the prospect of emerging into the light.

You said: 'it amazes me even when you go to the same place to take pictures, you can get very different results' - I have the same issue with the moon.
John all the best to you and your family in the new year 2009!

This shot is amazing. It must have been written already, but these colors are simply enchanting.
Bouncing Light @ 2009-01-03 13:05:37
While I understand some of the technical skills you used in other shots, I have to ask how did you get the reflections of the pier in the water... it's just too perfect to be real...
Amazing work. Immediate favorite.

This is quite the image...so amazing! It's also somewhat of an optical illusion for me...I see it also as a long hallway with an open door at the end. As always, your work is so breathtaking!
