The clarity of your images is just smashing! It seems that you have made the right choice with the Nikon camera. My 40D cannot deliver such noise free and clear results at ISO 1600.
  • Csaba/EyeVision // 2008-11-17 05:39:02

Nice image again. I like the rocks and the water in the foreground and what I like from the first of the series is the red tones with the white lights. The first is my favorite but this one also rocks. Regards.

You own the night in terrific nocturnal captures! For me, there is some truth to things happening in threes, too. I would be happy if there was a fourth in the series!

This is more balanced than the last one, nice work!

  • Sean // 2008-11-17 17:08:50

You do these so well. I'm always amazed at the level of detail you capture and the atmosphere you create. I particularly like the glistening rock in the foreground.
  • Adam Patterson // 2008-11-17 19:14:35

Is this going to be a hotel? i like the glow on the Trailers really orange.
  • angela carlsen // 2008-11-17 20:50:08

Once again I am astounded. I have to say I have been trying for 2 days to get a variation of the effect you achieve and I'm still far from it. Your images inspire and depress me at the same time. Would you share some tips?
  • Elaine- // 2008-11-17 21:40:24

very cool John, i get so excited when you post, i can hardly wait for the page to load :) niiiiice night shot with miraculous lighting!
  • sherri // 2008-11-17 21:46:14

I noticed something in this capture. The covering over the one section indicates a brisk cold wind...or something, but that's my guess. When the weather is still fairly warm where I am it seems unusual to think of it being cold. I like how the one crane took on a red hue.
  • Sidney // 2008-11-17 23:07:30

    Impressive photography !
    Fantastic night shot !
  • Mike // 2008-11-18 00:04:13

Another wonderful shot in this series. Awesome as always!
  • Anita Bower // 2008-11-18 10:30:42

    Hi, John:
I'm not resonating as much with the last 2 images as with other images of yours. Perhaps the subject matter, or the mist. Not sure.
In this one, I like the limited color palette. In the prior image, although I know the horizon is straight, it looks like it might be tilting a bit.
    Best!
    Anita
  • joe // 2008-11-18 10:33:00

I never thought construction in progress could look so magnificent...colors are fantastic and that's a tack sharp photo. I can only dream....
  • Bill Phillips // 2008-11-18 16:28:54

This and the previous one remind me of screen shots from a computer game. You do them superbly John. If I was to criticise this one at all it would be that it is a shame you have nipped off the top of that crane.
  • AC // 2008-11-18 17:30:30

Another great night capture. I really like how this series has been progressing - never knew construction sites could look so interesting by night :)
  • martie // 2008-11-18 18:28:36

Wow - this one is such a contrast in "metals". The silver and the copper both shine. Love that train that glows like copper. Excellent.

  • michele // 2008-11-18 19:36:00

  • daina // 2008-11-18 22:21:33

Reminds me of films about the aftermath of some catastrophe where just the skeletal structures remain - impressive shot and processing...
  • bluechameleon // 2008-11-19 00:08:35

I really like the power felt in this image. The cold grey of the structure and the way it reflects it's colour to the water. Even the warm of the lights can't warm up this feeling. Brilliant!
  • standley // 2008-11-19 03:49:55

Another amazing shot of yours. I like the silver tones!
  • don // 2008-11-19 09:19:21

A fine nighttime shot of this construction site. I especially like the reflections which are handled so well and that glow coming from behind the building. Nice work.

J'y vais en français :) J'aime profondément tes architectures de nuit (toujours très bien composées), c'est dans ces sujets que le HDR a le plus de force, à mon avis.
    Celle-ci est superbe.
